Happy New Year! (sniffle sniffle)
I NEVER get sick, other than the monthly cramps. But I've had a terrible sore throat for almost a week, runny nose, congestion blah blah blah. I even had a flu shot, so perhaps it will be minor. My temp says 97 degrees, but not sure what that means. Doesn't sound too bad. And, I have to go back to work tomorrow. I don't think anyone works tomorrow.
But, in my sick state, I thought of a story idea last night. I have to write a big feature this week (we do it once a month or so) and I was gonna write about people losing weight as their New Year's resolution, but the photographer said it would be hard to find folks to consent to us photographing them, true. So I thought about doing a story on the donut shops in town and if they've suffered with the health food crazes and such. I remember there being many donut shops in my town growing up and now Round Rock only has Crispy Creme and their famous Round Rock Donuts. But I dont' want to make it sound too negative like they're gonna go down cause of the health food nuts.
So, what did everyone do for Christmas and New Year's?
I'll start...I went to John's for Thanksgiving and had six days off for Christmas so I went home to the folks. My Dad was very nice and didn't gripe about me spending Christmas day with my Mom. (I've spent Christmas Eve with my Dad and Christmas day with my Mom since I was younger and the last couple years Dad's been making me feel guilty about it, so last year I spent Christmas day with him cause Ma was skiiing. He said that was the only reason I was there, blah blah, and it was bad). So a nice peaceful Christmas this year. Went to see Memoirs of Geisha, spent time with Granny and got lots of presents from Mom (I tell her to stop but she still gives us lots).
For New Year's, we were thinking about going out with friends or to Austin's First Night (some new tradition they're starting downtown) but stayed in cause I felt bad, ahhh.
Anyway, tell all and I'll see you on the other side.
(Think I'm gonna go eat some muffins and take a nap.)
